About:
The history of the Department of Law goes back to 2002-2003 when it was a department in the college of Shari’ a and Law, part of Suleimani University. After establishing Koya University, the department became an independent college, in the name of The College of Law, which is part of Koya University. After the new administrative change in the university, Law became a department among the other department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The department gives the opportunity to study Law and its different fields and it also provides field practices. Almost nine classes have graduated from the Law department with BA in Law so far, beside four classes in the MA and the three PhD classes.

The department is still productive and progressive in designing the educational plans and programme, in order to upgrade the academic competence of the students. The department tries hard to cope and communicate academically with the other universities in Kurdistan Region and the other Universities of Iraq. Thereupon, many of its staff members went to different Iraqi Universities or universities abroad to obtain both MA and PhD certificates.
