About:

Koya University established the Accounting Department in 2009. The Accounting Department at Koya University strives for academic excellence and professional development in the fields of accounting and finance. The department usually teaches subjects in Kurdish, Arabic, and English. It provides a universal, comprehensive syllabus that covers a wide range of accounting topics, including international accounting standards, accounting information systems, advanced financial accounting, and electronic accounting packages. The department offers many academic programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students can pursue bachelor's degree programs at the undergraduate level, and postgraduate studies offer higher diplomas, master's degrees, and PhD degrees. Students will learn data analysis skills that will assist businesses in making critical investment decisions. The program places much emphasis on practical experience, critical thinking, and ethical behaviors in preparing students to negotiate the complexity of financial reporting, auditing, and financial management.

Mission:

Our mission is to provide relevant, high-quality accounting educational programs to both undergraduate and graduate students. The Department of Accounting recognizes its societal responsibility by facilitating student preparation for successful accounting careers. The departments enrich accounting knowledge and education by carrying out some fundamental, theoretical, and practical research that utilizes some of the current accounting software packages, such as Golden Asseal, among others, and Excel Balance Sheets. Furthermore, it conducts other activities with a view to developing closer relations with business and professional communities.

Vision:

The Accounting program at Koya University is highly regarded for the department's delivery of quality understanding at a conceptual, theoretical, and practical level with respect to financial and non-financial information in an attempt to solve business challenges effectively and succeed. The department also hopes to attract and retain faculty members engaged in rigorous research that would benefit students and professionals. The accounting department also assists in teaching several accounting disciplines in other departments in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, such as the Department of Business Administration
